Turbo Controller Broken Down

Breaking it down...

Breaking it down...

So we have all seen it, we have all been extremely pissed off because of it, and now I’ve done some research, and I’ve got the rundown. The turbo controllers are simple devices, they simply trick the game into a high speed of firing with some resisters and some switches. I’ve done some research and I’ve come to the conclusion that these turbo controllers are not the instruments of death we see them as, they are easy to counter by far. Simply close the gap, and get personal, the turbo controllers don’t make these people invincible, just fire at a high rate. The Hammerburst is the biggest fiend using this controller, and the snub pistol is a beast too. However nothing else is really beefed up. The turbo control isn’t even useful when it comes to the non actived Hammerburst, the recoil is just too powerful to keep on a target that is dodging, now if your running right at him your going down.

Now the actived snub/Hammer with a turbo, is a beast, and it is by far the most deadly thing in this game, but if you can wall bounce around to this guy and shotgun him, he is going down. They aren’t gods just strong archers, most turbo users act like Lancasters, they want to keep their range, they don’t want a shotgun battle. Now opposing Lancasters know how to beat out turbos, simply run him out of ammo, turbo users love to burn down enemies, they will simply keep firing entire clips into opponents or towards them, its easy to run them out of ammo usually.

The turbo control I was able to test had 4 modes.

  • Mode – 1 = no effects in gears of war (extremely fast in cod 4)
  • Mode – 2 = No effects in gears of war (extremely fast in cod 4)
  • Mode – 3 = No effects in gears of war (extreme bursts in cod 4)
  • Mode – 4 = Fast firing with random slow downs (average speed in cod 4)

Now doing some tests I can tap my trigger as fast as Mode 4 fires in gears, so in my opinion its not really faster than me, but it allows more control while firing at that high of a speed, but sometimes when I was testing it, it would act like it forgot what to do, and randomly stop, and in half  a second fire again, and sometimes its just blazingly fast, sometimes even faster than me. Plus it allows full mobility in between dumping clips.

These controls are an advantage, especially if the turbo’s user’s team knows he has a turbo and assists him in that way, if a turbo user has a body guard, then no one will be closing a gap and he will be a machine until he runs low on ammo.

Its rough, but closing the gap is how you beat it, so wall bouncing will be a guide I’ll be supplying our clan with soon, but I want it to be thorough so it will be a week or so longer before its release.

The downside of the Turbo:

Now the downside of the turbo has been discovered, when a user is using the turbo controller he/she loses a good portion of their mobility, they cannot move as fast dodge as well, or overall use their agility to their advantage. Now they could be two things.

1.The right trigger macro fires so fast it sometimes blocks other inputs from your controller

(all theory, no evidence)

   2. The user is so confident with holding the R trigger he/she fails to use common agility to fight correctly.

Now it doesnt really matter which one is correct, the bottom line is while using my turbo controller, i feel slower, i fell like everyone else is out bouncing me. Or everyone seems to get around me or beat me to spots in a fire fight. So why is all of this important?

As I’ve Already stressed beating the turbo is about closing the distance, but if you can’t do that all you need to do is get them to use up their ammo, and they will begin to close the distance for you. As soon as a turbo uses his hammer store, he switches to the pistol, and will slowly close the game in order to use his precious shots more wisely this is when you close the distance yourself. IT takes some good patience and ducking abilities to do this, but its really easy to stop your common turbo controller in Gears of War 2, its almost a science. While in group firefights they are still lethal and should be focused on first, in 1 on 1 they are a waste of money.

Happy Hunting
